Special Worship May 11 -- Mother’s Day, Pentecost Sunday

This is a first or at least a once in a lifetime experience to have Pentecost and Mother’s Day on the same Sunday. Pentecost, the celebration of the Holy Spirit and the birthing of the church, and Mother’s Day, the giving thanks for mothers and the birthing of life, are both events to be celebrated on May 11th. And a celebration it will be! On this day, we will:

• Read about Pentecost from the books of Acts and John
• Celebrate the Holy Spirit, God’s living presence among us.
• Remember Mothers and Families
• Hear the Senior Choir, Praise Kids, New Creation Choir and their moms, Embellishments bell choir
• Bless Stitches of Love quilts and display of quilts
• Baptize children
• List of Gifts to Sojourner Truth House in honor of mothers
• Observe Myrtle Fisher’s 100th birthday
• Hold Healing Prayer Service at 10:00 a.m.

Come, celebrate Mother’s Day on Pentecost Sunday at St. Matthew’s... as the Holy Spirit moves and gathers us into families, especially as a congregational family! Make church a part of this day.
