Spring 2010 Concerts at St. Matt's

 

St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church is proud to present a Spring 2010 concert series
for members, guests and friends of St. Matthew’s.
We invite and look forward sharing God’s gift of music with the community.

 

Milwaukee Choral Artists – “MCA is on Fire”
Saturday, April 17, 7:30 p.m.

Libby Larsen's Canticle of the Sun features prominently in this concert of sizzling hot music from the world over. Not to miss: the winning composition in MCA's first Young Composer Composition Competition! A world premiere? Now that's hot! Tickets are available at the door for $25 Adult, $20 Senior, $15 Student. About MCA: Now in its twelfth season, the Milwaukee Choral Artists (MCA) is Wisconsin's premier professional choral ensemble, and one of only five professional women's vocal ensembles in the country. With its signature lush sound, MCA brings a distinctive repertory of choral and vocal masterworks—including well-known pieces, new music, seldom-performed works, and music of diverse cultures and historical periods—to concert audiences throughout the region.

 

Concord Chamber Orchestra – “West”
Sunday, May 15, 8:00 p.m.

Jamin Hoffman leads the CCO featuring violinist John Patek and cellist Jared Snyder. We will end our season with a tribute to the composer that is considered the pinnacle of Western civilization, Johannes Brahms, by performing both his "Double" Concerto and a new transcription for orchestra of his Opus 111 String Quintet in G by CCO member Keith MacGaffey. General admission is $15.

“The Good Shepherd”
St. Matthew’s Senior Choir and
Good Shepherd’s [Madison] Adult Choir
Sunday, May 16, 3:00 p.m.

Join us as we combine forces with orchestra and children’s choir to present an afternoon concert featuring the Senior Choir of St. Matthew’s, Wauwatosa, and the Adult Choir of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Madison. The choirs will present the cantata “The Good Shepherd” by Robert Hobby.
