Senior Choir (adults)

Rehearsals, Thursday, 7:30 p.m. in the Choir Room, which is located on the second floor of the Education Building.

Senior Choir welcomes those who enjoy singing and music!

Have you considered singing in the Senior Choir? We have a wonderful group of 40-50 adults who meet on Thursday evenings at 7:30-9:00 for rehearsals and good company. We sing every Sunday, but understand that people cannot always sing every Sunday. Dave Mohr, the director, chooses a wide variety of music, from classical to traditional, to spirituals, to songs with a jazz feel, sometimes a cappella (non-accompanied) or accompanied by organ, piano, or an instrumentalist or two.
It’s a great way to grow in faith, as the pieces often enhance the gospel message of the day. No matter what part you sing (soprano, alto, tenor or bass), we’ll seat you next to an experienced singer and welcome you warmly.

For further information, you can contact Dave Mohr at 414-774-1775 or by email at mohr4@wi.rr.com.

Director: David Mohr (414-774-1775 or email dave@stmattslutheran.org)
Accompanist: John R. Paradowski

Children and Music: Why Join a Children’s Choir?

Here’s a little list to look over in thinking why your child should be part of the music ministry program here at St. Matthew’s.
1. We teach them to sing. Children who sing will learn vocal and music reading skills that will stay with them throughout their lives.
Psalm 47: Sing praises to God, Sing Praises; sing praises to our king, sing praises.

2. We train them as worship leaders. Most who feel that their presence in choir is important to God, the church and their parents continue to center their lives in church, long after their beginning choir experience is over.
Psalm 95: Come, let us sing for Joy to the Lord

3. We augment their Christian education. Scripture, praise and prayer that are sung remain for years.
Psalm 98: Sing to the Lord a new Song, for God has done marvelous things.

4. We offer the opportunity for children to learn first-hand about serving God with their time and talent.
Psalm 105: Sing to God, sing praise to God.

5. Children who become used to singing in front of worshippers lose their shyness and develop poise that transfers into all areas of life.
Psalm 150: Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!

We encourage all children to be part of some musical activity as part of being active in Church. It is good for so many reasons.

Youth and Children's Choir Programs
Come Join us to Sing and Ring

St. Matthew’s has a number of outstanding opportunities for our Children & Youth to be part of the music ministry and share their gifts with our church family. Each group has a lot of fun together, while learning about music and its importance in our faith.

Parents, we ask you to encourage your children to join St. Matthew’s music ministry by participating in one of these groups. Beside learning about music and faith and sharing their talents with their church, we have lots of fun. Speak with John Paradowski or Jeff Reeves for further information.
