Saturday, October 25, 2008 -- 8:00 PM Featuring bayan accordion soloist Stas Venglevski! Our concert will open with an orchestral novelty piece written by the world famous Racine-based accordion player and composer, Frank Ricchio. Internationally acclaimed bayan virtuoso Stas Venglevski will rejoin the CCO for the premiere of a new concerto by Milwaukee native Mark Petering. After a quick trip through the New England countryside, we'll round out our tribute to Mother Earth with Beethoven's paean to all things earthly, his "Pastoral" Symphony. Repertoire: Hong Kong Traffic, by Frank Ricchio, Concerto for Bayan (world premiere), by Mark Petering, New England Triptych, by William Schuman, Symphony No. 6 ("Pastoral"), by Ludwig van Beethoven. In addition to the customary fiery performance by our concerto competition winner, we'll heat things up with some fire-themed favorites!
