Feed My Starving Children
Share the Excitement!
What started out two years ago as an experimental
congregational activity devoted to feeding the hungry has
developed a life of its own. St. Matthew’s association with
Feed My Starving Children continues to grow.
Updates:
In addition to our 2 packing events, we are funding
shipments of emergency food aid to struggling
communities in El Salvador – one of which our January,
2009 delegation visited. Our support also includes the
establishment of a storage facility, which was painted
by our January, 2009 delegation, and it provides for
the continuing distribution of food to Salvadoran
communities that are hard hit by the worldwide
economic downturn.
St. Matthew’s hopes to fund another distribution this year, and we look forward to the possibility of another packing event in 2010.
New Developments:
Moved by her participation in the St. Matthew’s packing
events, Jamie Heuler of our congregation, a high school
student at Brookfield East High School, is working with
other students to bring this humanitarian outreach to her
community by planning a packing event at Brookfield
East in the spring of 2010. If you have an affiliation with
Brookfield East, or if you know someone who lives in
Brookfield, please tell them about the excitement that
this event generated at St. Matthew’s. Jamie would love
to have your ideas and your help in planning this event.
Contact her at jamieheuler@mac.com.
