Site Help

Welcome to our NEW website!

We've designed our site to be welcoming, consistent and a pleasant experience. The site contains content from and about nearly every program and ministry of St. Matthew's, as well as information from and about our associations and ministry partners.

If you're not finding what you need, try using Search. This feature is linked solely to the St. Matthew's website. There is a Search button under the main menu of each page. Of course, if you cannot find what you want, please always feel free to contact us.

Main site navigation

St. Matthew's new website features eight main groupings of information, each with a highlighted color. This makes navigation around the site easier as the color divisions help distinguish main areas of ministry. Ministries are not always "distinct" or segregated, but unified within the congregation, so there is often cross-over, such as between "Group Life" and "Education".

This is the "front page" of our website, with information about current programs and events. Links are available to find our location via maps.

At the very top of this page (and all pages) are links for: contact information, site help, and our Groups & Ministries guide.

Groups and Ministries guide

A prominent feature of our website is familiar to many who visit other sites. The Groups and Ministries Guide located at the bottom of each page of the website. This Guide is an alphabetical listing of content areas, noting most of the ministries, groups, associations and opportunties at St. Matthew's. There are also additional columns of related links and other resources.

Side menu and news bar

Some pages include a "side menu" (sample at right). These are helpful sub-pages related to the content on the current page. Their background color matches the navigation coloring described above. These links are helpful for movement within the website and for finding related information. The links will sometimes refer to pages in a different section of the website.

One of the most helpful features is the blue "news bar" on the right side of many of the informational pages of our website (sample at right). There also is an informational bar on the front page of the website. News items and information can be found on these quick-reference "bars". They are updated regularly with new information and appropriate links.

Both the Side Menu and News Bar are located on the right side of web pages on which they appear. Some pages have both, some one or the other, and some have neither.

Other features

There are several other features that might not be as easily noticed as the above. At the very top of each page of the website helpful links for anyone. These links provide a jump to locations in one-click. One of the most helpful is our Events Calendar, which is updated daily and provids information about all of our activities (a link to this Calendar is also on the right-side "news bar" when that is featured on a web page). The three other links at the top of each page refer to our Contact page, our Location page (to find us with directions and maps), and a quick link to our Group Guide at the bottom of each web page.

[Go to TOP] A helpful navigation tool is the [Go to TOP] link and icon located in the lower right corner of longer pages. This link appears when moving to the bottom of the web page. When clicked, the page "scrolls up" automatically to the top, assisting in returning to the top menus or navigation bar.

Another way to move around the website is to use the page location feature below the main navigation bar and to the left of the Search box. For this page, the navigation looks like this: Home > news-events > Site Help. This "page tracking" enables visitors to know where they are in the site, what the previous "parent" section is called, and so forth. The links are active so one can move "backwards" on pages if so desired.
