A group of 21 from St. Matthew’s made a trip to El Salvador, the fifth annual congregational trip to that country, where our partnership with the Salvadoran Lutheran Church and Casa Esperanza continues to grow.
The group spent nine days in El Salvador, beginning with a St. Matthew’s led two-day Sunday School teacher training event. They also worked on some projects at Casa Esperanza, the homeless shelter which is our partner ministry in El Salvador, and visited communities and historical sites as well as spending time with the children we sponsor.
Thank you to Pastor Chris and Heather Deaton for the photos. Daily trip details were provided by Heather also.
The Mission Trip group shared details of the trip in worship services and at the adult education time on Jan. 29.
This year’s intergenerational group is very representative of the congregation and includes eleven college students and nine first time visitors to El Salvador. The participants on the 2012 Mission Trip are listed [here].
