The mission trip to El Salvador was held January 7-15. During the trip, Pastor Chris sent photos and videos of the group, the mission activities, and events. These photos and videos have now been posted online.
Be warned: There are several thousand photos. However each group of photos is posted in its own "album" by day of trip. Links to the albums are provided below a summary of the daily activities. A link to the 21 videos is also provided.
Day 6 - Tuesday - Jan. 12
- Breakfast and then traveled to the church where Archbishop Oscar Romero was assassinated. We toured the church and his house and heard the full story from a nun who spoke in english (but talked quietly).
- We then went to the Memorial wall where (some) of the names of those who were murdered and disappeared have been written 30,000 on the wall - estimated 80,000 actual - very disturbing!
- From there we went to Casa Esperanza - Trindad's homeless food meal ministry, where she gave us a tour and we met some of the people receiving food. It's one of the poorest areas of the city
- From there we brought Trinidad and Pastor Helmut (a servant of Casa Esperanza and his wife) to a nice restaurant owned by famous artist Fernando Llort. Fernando is attributed for creating the famous El Salvadoran art style Lapalma art.
- From there we traveled to Fundacion Exodo - A children's home just outside of San Salvador, where we met the kids and leaders, toured the facility, and played with the kids - lots of fun!
- From there we came back and picked up the whole Casa Concordia family and went with everyone (42 of us) to Pizza Hut - a HUGE treat for everyone. We had a lot of fun with two of the kids having birthdays.
