The mission trip to El Salvador was held January 7-15. During the trip, Pastor Chris sent photos and videos of the group, the mission activities, and events. These photos and videos have now been posted online.
Be warned: There are several thousand photos. However each group of photos is posted in its own "album" by day of trip. Links to the albums are provided below a summary of the daily activities. A link to the 21 videos is also provided.
Day 5 - Monday - Jan. 11
- Woke up at the hotel, breakfast around the pool, traveled to the Mayor's office in Santa Maria.
- The town was just cleaning up from a festival of their patron saint - Santa Maria.
- Met with the Mayor's office officials (Mayor gone to San Salvador)
- Had a very productive meeting where we were able to discern possible forward progress on the bridges.
- Norm Doll came along from the UW Engineers without Borders organization.
- They will be the ones handling any type of projects.
- He was very enthusiastic of further projects.
- We also had David and Nancy Slinde with us who are Milwaukee natives now living in El Salvador and soon in the Santa Maria area.
They attended the meeting and will soon be able to continue following up with the community. They will be a wonderful on the ground contact for having eyes and ears in the area.
- We were even interviewed about the future projects and our interest by a local television station.
- After studying the bridges and walking the community we drove back to San Salvador- about three hours.
- After getting back to Casa Concordia and relaxing, we made Papusas with the ladies of the house and then enjoyed them - Delicioso!
