Sunday School resumes Sept. 12 - RALLY DAY
Sunday School begins this year on Sept. 12 with a Rally Day celebration at the 8:30 a.m. service. Sunday School for 3-year-olds through 8th graders meets weekly from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. All children are welcome! Watch the next issue of the Voice for more details. Parents of preschoolers (3- & 4-year-olds only) will receive a letter the week of Sept. 5 with information on class placement.
If you are interested in volunteering in our education program as a teacher, helper, or special events volunteer, please talk to Gretchen Haugse, 414-774-0441 or gretchen@stmattslutheran.org.
Our Rally Day Theme for September 12:
“GONE MISSING”
Gone missing. Don’t let this term describe you when Sunday School starts on September 12! Come to our Rally Day celebration at the 8:30 a.m. service to find out what’s missing and why it matters. We’ll answer that question through a children’s message and skit to kick off the Sunday School year.
Following the worship service, Sunday School classes begin for 3-year-olds through 8th graders. Teachers and room numbers will be listed in the bulletin on September 12, and parents of 3 and 4-year-olds will receive letters the week of September 5 with class assignment information. Adult education offerings and youth forum also begin on this day. If you have questions about Sunday School, please contact Gretchen Haugse. If you are unsure of whether your child is registered for Sunday School, please contact the office.

Sunday School Offering Envelopes Available at Info Center
Do you need offering envelopes for your Sunday School-aged child? Three-year-olds will be given new boxes in Sunday School. Returning students can continue to use any envelopes that are left from last year. When last year’s box is empty, a new box is available from your child’s teacher or from the information center in the Commons.
Christian learning for children
Our church believes in the importance of learning Christian values and faith from the earliest age. We offer a ministry for children in every stage of development.
Our goal is to train children for discipleship to Jesus Christ.Dedicated teachers, using prescribed curriculum and team teaching techniques, are supported by an Education Committee.
We have Sunday School Classes for ages 3 through grade 8 during the Education Hour, 9:45-10:45 a.m., September through May (immediately following the 8:30 a.m. worship). Children may be registered in the classrooms any Sunday morning. In addition to weekly classes, several family events are offered each year and all children are involved in a Sunday School Christmas program every other year.
