Sunday School classes are 9:45-10:45 a.m. Our church believes in the importance of learning Christian values and faith from the earliest age. The photos below are from the Middle School Art/Service Event, March 20, 2011. During the event, which happens about once month during the education hour, middle school Sunday School classes work on an art project. Usually the projects are directed toward some kind of service. The classes made colorful Easter baskets from milk jugs and tissue paper decoupage. The 60 baskets will be filled by other Sunday School classes and then taken to Hope House, a homeless shelter that serves families and also operates a food pantry for the surrounding neighborhood. The Easter baskets will be given to families  who use the food pantry. These events are planned and led by Renee Mabie. (Click image to enlarge)

Photos of Middle School Valentine Art Project Feb. 6, 2011
The photos below are from the February 2011 Middle School Art/Service Event. During the event, which happens about once month during the education hour, middle school Sunday School classes work on an art project. Usually the projects are directed toward some kind of service. In February, they made Valentine decorations that were distributed to members on our visitation lists. In past events, kids have also made decorations used during various seasons at St. Matthew's, such as the Pentecost flames than hung in the central stairway for the season of Pentecost this past year. These events are planned and led by Renee Mabie.

Photos of Operation Christmas Child packing event
Our Middle School youth packed 44 shoebox gifts for Operation Christmas Child during their Sunday School class on Nov. 8, at their monthly art/service project event. Students brought the items to fill the boxes and wrote notes to the children who will be receiving the gifts. Photos of this event are in the Photo Album [here]
