Israel Pilgrimage 2012

St. Matthew’s sponsored a Holy Land Pilgrimage, May 17-27, 2010.

Using AMI Travel Co. and their vast 30 years of experience in the Holy Land, the group saw and experienced the most holy of Biblical locations. They walked the very ground that Jesus walked.

Three special adult education sessions on the history and archaeology of Israel were offered in the spring of 2010. The sessions are specifically geared for those who went on the church-sponsored trip to the Holy Land in May [more].

Day of Grace

“Day of Grace: Commentary and Conversations about Faith” is a special education event at St. Matthew’s in which the church invites a nationally recognized speaker to address current topics of religious interest. Previous speakers include Dr. John Dominic Crossan (2008), Dr. David Rhoads (2007), Dr. Karen-Marie Yust and Dr. Martin Marty.

Book of Faith

The purpose of the Book of Faith initiative is to increase Biblical literacy and fluency for the sake of the world.
(ELCA statement on the Book of Faith initiative)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has made a commitment to encourage all members of our congregations, from children to adults, to dig deeper into our book of faith, the Bible. The Book of Faith Initiative recommends a new model for our church. A grass-roots approach embracing a common vision in which all are invited to open scripture and join the conversation. Each community is encouraged to decide how the Book of Faith Initiative will become a vital part of its own ministry.
