Adult Forum Video - Who is Ayn Rand? (Jan. 15, 2011)
Is John Gurda right when he said, in a recent Journal Sentinel article, “What we’re witnessing today…is an epidemic of primal selfishness”? If so, what has influenced our nation in this direction? Is the influence of Ayn Rand’s philosophy of selfish objectivism, promoted by many public figures today, one of the causes? Well known for her two best-selling novels, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand advocated reason as the only means of acquiring knowledge and rejected all forms of faith and religion. How does her philosophy compare to the ethics of the Bible? This discussion explores our Christian understanding of individualism, community, government and related issues.
Facilitators: Pastor Edward Weiskotten and Conor Williams

Adult Forum Video - Christian Motivation to Care for Creation (Dec. 11, 2011)
Why should Christians — as Christians — care so much about what happens to the environment? In the end, will it matter? Besides, doesn’t the Bible say that we’re the ones who are supposed to “fill the earth and subdue it”? Come, learn, and discuss biblical and theological reasons for making a conscientious effort to care for God’s creation, including ways in which our very salvation might be tied to how we treat our earthly home.
Facilitated by Pastor Margaret and Jason Roberts
